THE big day is drawing closer for the York couple who won their wedding through The Press.
Lauren Beevers and David McRae, of Wigginton Road, were named the victors in our Win A Wedding competition, meaning they will not have to spend a single pound on everything from dresses and suits to the hen and stag parties.
The latest stage of preparations for the day saw Lauren and David, who have a one-year-old daughter, Robyn, get their first look at the flowers for their wedding courtesy of York-based Wards the Florist, which has provided a package worth £500.
They have also been given a tour round the venue for the June ceremony and reception, the Marriott Hotel on Tadcaster Road, where 50 guests will enjoy a wedding breakfast and drinks and the bride and groom will spend their first night as a married couple in an upgraded Grandstand Room, as well as having two-month complimentary use of its leisure club.
Lauren has chosen her gown and two bridesmaids' dresses at Wedding Belles and Beaus in Micklegate, with their prize also including a £1,000 photography package from Nikki Pix, stationary, decorations and a sweet buffet and candy cart from Truly Scrumptious, a cake from Candy Stripes, suits from Debenhams and hen and stag days at York Racecourse;s first Saturday meeting of the season.
The couple have been together seven years and got engaged while holidaying in Menorca.
