RESIDENTS who use Hambleton’s leisure centres are being urged to recycle while at the gym.
New recycling bins for cans and plastic bottles have been installed outside centres in Northallerton, Bedale, Thirsk and Stokesley, following similar schemes elsewhere in the towns.
Councillor Brian Phillips, Hambleton District Council’s portfolio holder for waste management, said: “A lot of visitors to leisure centres will use drinks in plastic bottles, so we have designed the bins especially to meet their needs.”
“This shows we are committed to recycling at home, in the street and now while we are exercising.”
