Police want to speak to the driver of a small car who drove off after a crash that injured two teenage girls on a pedestrian crossing outside a North Yorkshire school.
The girls aged 15 and 16 suffered suspected broken bones in the collision outside Meadowside Primary School, Halfpenny Lane, Knaresborough at about 6.45pm yesterday.
The car, which may have been a dark coloured Vauxhall Corsa, stopped briefly and a woman aged about 60 got out of the driver’s seat before getting back in and driving off towards Chain Lane. She did not say anything.
One of the girls had a broken bone in her foot and the other has a suspected broken wrist. Both were taken to hospital after the crash.
Harrogate traffic police are now looking for the car and its driver.
