WITH reference to Alder Way footpath (The Press Letters, March 15), this week I walked along Headlands Lane, a footpath from Wheatfield Lane to Headlands School.
Overnight someone had sneaked in and fly-tipped two large piles of cypress tree cuttings, probably from green bins by the shape of the piles, on to the crocus and snowdrops.
A check with Haxby town council revealed the path is not controlled by them or even City of York Council. Reporting the rubbish to York council it was cleared away within 24 hours, an excellent response.
The councils cannot check every footpath but a phone call to them gets results.
Trevor Jackson, Wheatfield Lane, Haxby, York.
