I HAVE read Mr. A. Moore’s letter in The Press of March 20 about suicidal cyclists. Only last week my husband and I were travelling along Bootham.

As usual traffic was very busy. My husband had stopped, as the car in front was signalling to turn left into Bootham Row.

Next thing a cyclist came speeding along on the inside and practically collided with the car. Obviously the cyclist was shaken (tough).

I then made a point of telling him that had he actually collided into the car, not only would he have been injured, but the driver’s car would have been damaged, and as usual it would have been the driver’s fault.

I must admit I felt a bit guilty for shouting, as the poor cyclist had an impediment: his mouth was wide open, and two lumps of black plastic with wires was emerging from both ears. It appears quite a number of cyclists suffer from this condition.
