FRIENDS of West Park in Goole has appointed Georgina Petty as its first chairman.

Ms Petty, trustee of Goole and District RSPCA, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to bring a community together.

"I am passionate about bringing a touch of poetry to the blend of old and new being offered by this much-anticipated refurbishment. A lick of paint and a few bricks are just the start.”

Steve Shaw-Wright, community participation officer for West Park, said: “Goole Town Council will be working closely with this independent group of local residents to formulate a working plan to assist the council in delivering improved and additional activities within the park.”
