I AM delighted to see that the long-awaited development on the Terry site has begun. It is especially encouraging to know that 20 per cent of the housing there will be ‘affordable’ thanks to the negotiations of the Labour-led council.

Many think such quotas are impossible to achieve, and I believe the Conservatives were suggesting only half this amount, which would have made only ten per cent of the homes available to those who would otherwise be unlikely to achieve a home of their own.
