TEENAGERS have experienced science in action at the University of York.
Almost 200 school students aged13 to 15 from across the Yorkshire and Humber region took part in the university's annual science trail, designed to bring the subject to life.
The 17 hands-on activities included using plant materials to make plastic, practising basic life support skills using the Department of Health Sciences’ manikins and learning how to identify and explore different tree species with the Stockholm Environment Institute.
The Department of Philosophy challenged the youngsters to think about the relationship between reason and science, while the Department of Physics helped them to make and then launch paper rockets from a high-pressure rocket launcher.
The event targeted young people from a variety of backgrounds, including those who might not have considered university as an option previously.
