A HARRY Styles cut out features as part of a new makeover of York's sexual health clinic - which aims to get more people to get tested.
One in 12 under-25s in York and North Yorkshire test positive for chlamydia and health professionals leading the #YorClear campaign have said the answer is to get tested and treated.
The familiar faces of Gary Barlow and Harry Styles now decorate the waiting room of Monkgate Health Centre as well as a complete makeover of the facilities to make them more user friendly and promote chlamydia screening.
Staff at the clinic now even wear brightly colour T-shirts with real slogans such as “My daughter’s boyfriend had chlamydia” and “I get tested when I get a new partner”, to show there is nothing embarrassing about getting tested.
Liz Hare, chlamydia screening programme co-ordinator, said: “We want to promote the message that everybody should be getting tested in a fun and light hearted way. Chlamydia can be invisible – so you can’t tell from looking at someone if they have it."
There are many places in North Yorkshire where under 25s can collect a home testing kit for chlamydia.
Call the central office on 01904 725440 to find out where your local test sites are.
