A TEAM of 13 women have taken part in a charity walk to raise money for Kidney Cancer Research at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
Emma Giles, of Selby, organised the event to walk 10 miles across Marsden Moor in West Yorkshire in honour of her husband Michael, who has advanced kidney cancer.
Primary NHS treatment failed to work in August 2013 and secondary treatment only gave Michael four to six months of hope and he then approached the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea which is running a worldwide trial for kidney cancer.
So far Michael’s condition has slowly improved, with some tumours vanishing while others are getting smaller. He is one of three people on the trial in London and one of 800 around the world receiving the treatment.
While he was being scanned in January, Emma made a promise that she would organise a charity walk to raise money for the hospital if the results were positive.
They have so far raised more than £2,000.
