IT may sound unbelievable, but here we are already; today marks the 100-day countdown to Yorkshire’s hosting of the Tour de France.
Quite rightly Welcome to Yorkshire’s Gary Verity will trumpet the fact at this morning’s Y14 event in Harrogate. So too will Christian Prudhomme, the Tour’s director and Whitby singer/songwriter Alistair Griffin, who will premier his specially commissioned song for the race.
But that is just the start. Today also marks the beginning of Yorkshire Festival 2014 – the first ever arts festival to precede the Tour de France.
It may seem only yesterday that Mr Verity announced Yorkshire had won the right to host this year’s Grand Départ, but, from today, that dream has become reality.
Roll on July for the Tour itself, but in the meantime enjoy the amazing build-up to what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
