THE Inkwell record and rock curio shop and York record label Bad Paintings will host York’s first independent record label fair tomorrow.
Running from 10am to 5pm, it will feature vinyl, cassette and CD releases on several of York’s indie labels, including Bad Paintings, Desert Mine Music, Sea Records, Anonymous Records, Office Records and Sweet Sue Records.
Releases by York bands and musicians will be on sale too, and anyone buying indie items tomorrow will be entitled to ten per cent off any of the regular stock at The Inkwell, the Gillygate shop that sells vinyl records, books and pop culture curiosities.
“There’s a lot written about all the great music in York but what’s not covered very often is that there are labels releasing records by local bands, out-of-town bands and international bands,” says Mike Harrison, who runs Bad Paintings with John Meager.
“We thought that organising this event would be a good way for the labels to get together and would also present an opportunity for the music fans in York to come and check out who we are and what we are doing.”
Any York band or artist seeking to have their music stocked at The Inkwell should contact ink-well.co.uk or bad-paintings.co.uk
