Scooter enthusiasts will be supporting fundraisers taking on the annual Midnight Walk for St Leonard’s Hospice.
The theme for this year's event on Saturday, June 21, is ‘I Love the Sixties’, with the walk starting at York College and offering two routes – a ten mile stretch and a five mile.
All participants will be welcomed back to York College for refreshments.
York Inset Scooter Club will be supporting the event, riding alongside the Midnight Walk in full sixties inspired attire.
Sue Miller, fundraising manager at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “Scooters were an essential fashion accessory for many people in the sixties, so we’re very grateful to York Inset Scooter Club for agreeing to help give authentic period style to the Midnight Walk this year.
"We look forward to welcoming them – and lots of ladies to the Walk. They will all help the Hospice raise lots of fund for our work of caring for local people.”
There will be sixties music and an illuminated screen, allowing participants to display messages of dedication and motivation whilst grooving to the classics.
Last year the Midnight Walk event raised £50,000 – this year’s sixties theme encourages all participants to attain sponsorships, to hopefully meet a barrier of 60,000 for the charity.
