THE caption to the Soap Box on March 24 (Remembering city’s train-making days) implies the accompanying photograph is related to the Carriageworks where they constructed and repaired coaching stock.
It is Clifton carriage sidings coaching stock maintenance facility.
This was built with EU money at great expense and was demolished only some five years later to be replaced by houses.
