A CITY-CENTRE supermarket in York will close next weekend.
Signs on the Budgens store on the corner of George Hudson Street and Micklegate have confirmed it will shut on Saturday, April 5, six months after City of York Council granted permission for the site to become a restaurant.
The proposals were submitted by British Overseas Bank Nominees and WGTC Nominees Ltd, who said last year there was “considerable” interest in the site.
At the time of the planning application being handed in, Budgens said no decisions had been taken about the future of its York store, and the firm has yet to comment on the closure.
