A COMPUTING student at York College has combined his technology and writing skills to bag a dream IT prize.
Winning A-Level student Josh Foskett has always been interested in computing and loves studying the subject at college. He is also a successful poet, having had three of his poems published. At college his skills have not gone unnoticed and he is the editor of the York College IT and computing division’s e-newsletter.
Josh rose to the challenge when his tutor highlighted an essay writing competition on the subject: How IT is used in everyday life, and how businesses use technology. He spent four hours writing the 1,000 word essay, submitted his work and won the competition.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have won the competition, the subject is close to my heart and I enjoyed writing the essay. Even better is my prize of a brand new laptop, Microsoft Office, a year’s free mobile internet and scholarship tutoring from top professionals.”
Josh, a former student of George Pindar School in Scarborough, studies A Levels in computing, government and politics, business studies and maths at York College.
