CHILDREN at a York school have been turning trash into treasures.
Elvington Primary School has decided to do more with its recycling and rubbish by creating inventive and artistic junk models.
Junk Models are, quite literally in some cases, what they say on the tin – models made from the safe and re-usable contents of rubbish and recycling bins. The children enjoyed making the models from materials such as shoe boxes, cereal boxes, toilet paper tubes and tin foil to make a range of sizeable models including animals, robots and sculptures.
The inspiration behind the innovative Junk Models was to allow the children to use their creativity to make whatever they wanted with the materials provided in a sustainable economic way using only recyclable or used substances.
The Junk Models will be put on display in the school.
