THE pro-Lendal Bridge correspondents are regularly referring to air pollution in our city centre. I have yet to see anyone wearing a face mask as happened in China a short while ago.
Where are all the people with red, watery eyes or having coughing fits, or with handkerchiefs constantly at their noses?
The air in York is just like any other city, although there are rumours that the council might start taxing it.
The doomsayers are using scaremongering tactics to try to bolster their argument.
When they take an air quality reading, they do so near bus stops where idling diesel engines are at work.
A reading in the middle of Parliament Street will show the freshness of the air that we breathe.
