A SIMILAR problem to that identified by Mike Underwood (Letters, March 25) exists in the villages of Nether and Upper Poppleton in that many residents park their cars both during daylight hours and overnight half on, and half off the road.

This can cause obstruction for parents with prams and buggies by restricting room on the pavement, and in certain circumstances restricts visibility for cars and other traffic.

In addition, although residents strive to maintain the beauty of the villages, as a result of this lack of consideration green verges are often turned into something akin to a tank track’
