WHO says beer and culture don’t mix?
York-based actors’ troupe Common Ground have been literally bringing theatre to the masses – performing Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale at pubs and village halls across the region.
They have been everywhere from the Poppleton Tithe Barn to the Fauconberg Arms in Coxwold and, last Friday, The Gillygate in York.
We don’t know what locals have been making of it. But The Press’s own theatre critic, Charles Hutchinson, acclaimed the production ‘utterly joyful’ .
We’ll drink to that.
