A RESTAURANT in York has helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity with a free breakfast event.
Members of the local business community were invited to the Frankie and Benny’s branch at Clifton Moor to take part in the event.
Caroline Sheriff, general manager of the branch, said the breakfast was so successful staff at the restaurant were considering further fundraising in the coming weeks.
She said: “It was a charity breakfast raising money for leukaemia and lymphoma research, as that’s the charity the whole company is supporting this year.
“We had a lot of local businesses and contacts come down and gave everyone a breakfast, taking donations for the charity.
“We had 65 people including the sheriff of York, and raised about £800, which was great.”
Caroline said the restaurant had held charity breakfasts in the past, “but this was by far the most successful”, and they were planning further events to support the charity in the lead up to Easter.
She said: “We’re raising throughout the year so we’ll have a lot of things coming up. Maybe at the end of the month we will do another charity breakfast as a result of how successful this was.”
