FARMERS and landowners whose businesses could be affected when the Tour de France comes to Yorkshire this summer are being urged to sign up to a scheme which allows them to alter their grass-cutting dates.
The “special derogations” introduced by the Country Lane and Business Association (CLA), with Natural England, also allow those who apply to set up temporary facilities such as campsites, car parks and toilets on their land when the Grand Depart passes through the county in July.
However, only a small number of farmers have so far signed up, raising concerns that landowners may not be aware of the scheme. with CLA regional director Dorothy Fairburn saying there was potential for disruption during the Tour but also for new business. The derogations allow changes to other land management matters and more information contact CLA North on 01748 907070.
