ALMOST 200 homes could be built if plans are approved for a pilot housing development scheme today.
The proposal is between a North Yorkshire council and the Ministry of Defence, which would sell the land for housing development, should planners give the green light.
Three separate planning applications for housing schemes at Catterick Garrison will be debated by Richmondshire District Council’s planning committee today. The schemes have been brought forward by Richmondshire District Council as part of the Government’s public land auction project. This scheme aims to release surplus public sector land for development.
All the sites are owned by the MoD.
The largest scheme would see 130 homes between the garrison and Colburn. This is despite claims that the main road in the area is already congested because of other housing developments nearby.
