FORMER nurses in North Yorkshire are being encouraged to return to the profession, by joining a six-month programme starting this summer at the University of York.

An information event on April 14 at the University of York will provide people who may have years of valuable healthcare experience with the answers they need to make a decision on returning to the workplace.

Clare Clarke, programme leader, said: “The programme provides returners with a flexible approach to fit in with their family life and individual circumstances. The course starts with a five-day study workshop and then you will attend one seminar per month.”

Additionally, students are expected to complete 200 hours’ clinical practice in an allocated practice setting over a period of six months. Returners will be able to develop their competence and achieve the skills and knowledge to regain their registration and return to work as a registered nurse.

Successful applicants will have their course fees paid in full by the NHS via Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber.
