PAUL HEPWORTH is wrong again to say there is no anti-car brigade in York (Letters, March 31). Of course there is and he and others contribute anti-car comments too often on these pages.

Mr Hepworth appears to know everything about motorists’ lives and seems determined to dictate how we use our cars.

Well, Mr Hepworth, this is a free country and we can make our own choices. Car sharing has gone on since the car was invented, so this idea is a complete waste as not everyone wants to go to the same place at the same time.

Although there might only be one person in a car that person might be carrying a large load impossible to get on a bus or a bike. It is our own choice whether to own and run a car and we pay a lot of money to do so.

Thankfully many people are starting to see through the green debate and see it for what it really is: just another tax.
