IS THERE no end to the council and North Yorkshire police commissioner collecting more and more money?

York city has since 2005 had the benefit of six per cent yearly of extra money.

However, for 2013-14 North Yorkshire police received a grant of £5.7 million and for some reason this meant that the seven collecting agents of the police precept were required to contribute less to the precept. City of York Council received a windfall of £1.3 million.

Having stated this to both agencies, I am told it will happen for 2014-15. What I do not understand is the how commissioner ups the precept by 1.99 per cent.

Even though the chief constable says he had saved £10 million (The Press, December 13), obviously since most North Yorkshire councils put up council tax by 1.99 per cent, one has to assume the commissioner followed suit.

Somehow I do not think you will get a response from them, but I think the taxpayers would benefit.
