THIS year may be the 100th anniversary of the Great War, but we must not forget York’s other war heroes, people such as Normandy veteran Ken Bell to whom friends paid their last respects yesterday.
There are few Second World War veterans left, which means men like Mr Bell symbolise everything we should respect. He was, after all, prepared to pay the ultimate sacrifice to secure our freedom.
