THE future's bright for one of York's oldest and most historic sights. So bright, in fact, that it's turned yellow.
The 13th century tower is tinging its walls bright yellow in honour of the biggest event to hit York this year.
As the Tour de France's peloton wheels into town, the tower's will be illuminated yellow in honour of the iconic "maillot jaune", or yellow jersey, worn by the leading rider each day of the Tour.
The riders pass Clifford's Tower on the second day of the Tour's journey through Yorkshire, with the winner of the previous day's sprint finish on Harrogate's Stray sporting the yellow jersey.
English Heritage's Julie Spowart, said: "We are so pleased to be showing our support and celebration of Yorkshire's Grand Depart by literally turning Clifford's Tower yellow at night as part of the 100 day Cultural Festival in Yorkshire. As an iconic landmark in the city, it's great to see this beacon of yellow shining on the route that the cyclists will follow on their route."
It will be illuminated yellow every day of the 100 Day Cultural Festival, in the run up to the Grand Depart 2014, and will glow yellow from 6pm-12am daily.
