YORK’S Derwenthorpe housing development has been given a Civic Trust Award, The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust’s 540-home scheme at Osbaldwick was rewarded for delivering “a sustainable residential development within a generous landscaped environment, providing much-needed housing on the periphery of York.”
Nigel Ingram, of the trust, said domestic homes were rarely acknowledged by such awards. He said: “The rest are high-grade civic buildings and structures of worth, so it is amazing to be recognised.”
Paul Hogan, sales director of builders David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East said Derwenthorpe was a “testament to amazing architects, builders and designers as well as the sustainability managers who make it such an eco-friendly place to live.”
