EAST Yorkshire racer Guy Smith has rejoined M-Sport Bentley for the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series across Europe.
The Beverley-born 39-year-old has signed up to drive the new Bentley Continental GT3 at all five rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series with fellow British racers Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane.
The season begins at Monza in Italy on April 12 and 13 and Smith has been involved with the Continental GT3 programme from the outset.
He said: “After 12 months of hard work, securing a drive with M-Sport Bentley is fantastic.
“The car was quick from the start, but we’ve been steadily improving it and it’s now a seriously fast car, one that you can really drive hard.
“Transitioning from prototype sports cars has been a learning curve for me but I’ve trained really hard over the last six months and I’m feeling strong and ready.
“I’m looking forward to be racing in Europe again after the last few years in the US, and especially to the Total 24 Hours of Spa in the summer.
“The last time I drove a Bentley at a 24-hour race, we won – so here’s hoping we can challenge for the win again.”
After Monza, the other rounds will be held at Silverstone on May 24 and 25, at Paul Ricard in France on June 28 and 29, at Spa in Belgium from July 25 to 27, and at the Nurburgring in Germany on September 20 and 21.
In his last outing last season Smith finished fourth on his debut at the two-stage Gulf 12 Hours event in Abu Dhabi.
The former American Le Mans series and Le Mans 24-hour race champion, Smith and and fellow Brits Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane, drove the new Bentley Continental GT3 to a superb result in the car’s first test race.
