LET the sun come into your life, says the song… Well it would do if you were greeting the summer in this quite stunning house.
It’s a lovely, bright and light collection of rooms, wrapped up in delightful gardens.
And, sitting, as it does, in a splendid rural location, it is the ideal place to come home to after a hard day’s work.
(Actually it would be a pretty good place to retire to, for that matter – that way you could enjoy it all day long) It is Hector’s House, in Station Road, Alne, one of North Yorkshire’s most sought-after villages.
We loved pretty much everything about this property – from its handsome, flowing exterior to the living and dining areas to the impressive array of bedrooms and luxury bathrooms.
And as for the gardens – well, we’ll get to them in a minute.
In the meantime, let us just pick out a few highlights for you… We will begin at the beginning, with the imposing reception hall with a stone flagged floor that leads you invitingly into the main living and dining rooms.
First up of these is a sitting room with a warming wood-burning stove set in a stone mullion fireplace and character touches aplenty including overhead exposed beams and fine rural views from the windows.
Across the way is a beautifully arranged series of spaces including an open plan kitchen and snug flowing into a dining room, off which is are utility and cloak rooms.
In more detail we can tell you that the kitchen is a dream, a large space with a range of high white wall and base units and a smart central preparation island – all with handsome solid wood work surfaces.
The dining room simply dances in sunshine and light, thanks in no small part to a high vaulted ceiling and double doors leading out to the rear garden.
And the snug is an ideal spot to relax while someone else does the cooking in that excellent kitchen!
Trotting up the stairs we find three double bedrooms (two proudly boasting period fireplaces and rural views) a super house bathroom and a study.
And then comes another real wow factor in the shape of an attic conversion which has created a 21ft 10ins master bedroom with a separate dressing room and an en-suite shower room.
(And you get pretty good rural views from up here, too).
Talking of rural views, this is a property with a garden that is laid out to make the most of the surrounding countryside.
There are pebbled pathways, stone flagged terrace and patio areas, lawns and seating areas, a small pond and a vegetable bed and garden store.
All in all the property stands in around a fifth of an acre and there is plenty of parking and a large brick built double garage.
A splendid, light, bright and inviting property in a super location – the ideal rural family home.
• WE think this a fabulous home – you can judge for yourself as estate agents Stephensons are holding an open day for Hector’s House this weekend, Saturday April 5, between 11am and 3pm. You can also get more information from Stephensons on 01904 625533
