However, Slip's final pairing of Helen Kitchen and Claire Boyce secured an overall 7-4 victory in 23 darts.
Michelle Britton included a maximum in her 24 as Cygnet C'/Wenlock had victory sewn up within the singles against Tramways, whose Janet Rogerson scored her side's lone singles success.
Burnholme's Nikki Riley also recorded a 180 in her singles and then partnered Caroline Whittaker to secure a last-gasp win against Flag. Celia Jones (120, 2 x 100) also starred for the club side.
The Jo Hodges and Livvy Noble partnership wrapped up victory for Clifton A' at Slip B'.
In division two, leaders Cygnet A' showed no mercy in thumping Beeswing 9-0 but both teams played unregistered players so the score was adjusted to 7-0.
Severus beat Shepherd A' 8-3 with good scoring coming from Sue Richardson. Slipper were taken to the wire by visitors Yearsley with Sue Tate and Anita Adams sealing the home side's victory.
Division three front-runners Tang Hall WMC stayed ahead of the field despite faltering in the pairs after holding a 4-2 advantage at Shepherd B', whose Sue Lacey and Margaret Lumb secure the result in a nail-biting finale.
Britannia B' were also sunk in the pairs by Acomb, whose Rose Gatenby closed 53.
Leeman B's Shelagh Kenny closed 90 (double tops, 20, double 15) as Cueball went down 6-3. Woolpack beat Jubilee A' by the same score having victory in the bag within the singles.
Division four leaders Tiger roared on as a bull 72 finish by Kate Liddle helped them to a 7-2 win at Leeman A'.
Tramways B' lost ground as Volunteer A' found the club's board to their liking to take home a 6-3 victory.
Shoulder's final pairing, Janet Wrigglesworth and Rachel Caunt, secured victory at Jubilee B'. Volunteer B' cleared up in the pairs as Mitre could find no answer to Volunteer's finishing power.
