A GEORGIAN dance lesson which recalls a York landmark’s earlier life will feature in a innovative new art festival to hit the city this summer.
York Curiouser will bring contemporary art to various locations throughout the city in June and July.
As part of it, music and dance have returned to Fishergate Postern Tower on Piccadilly for the festival. Papers show the tower was the location for dances and music in the Georgian period, and artist Janet Hodgson and choreographer Lea Anderson have teamed up to create “The Postern”, a film of a period dance lesson in the tower.
The film will be shown in an installation “The Workshop of Historical Correction” throughout the festival from June 14 to July 7.
The tower will be open for York Curiouser from Wednesdays to Sundays.
