A CHARITY in York received a late Christmas present, thanks to some musical benefactors.
Lesley McNeil, the general manager of York Against Cancer, was presented with a cheque for £1,250 by Anne Cooper, director of York Settlement Players.
In December, the Players staged two productions of A Christmas Celebration - an arrangement of festive music, readings and literary extracts.
The preview took place at St Laurence's Church Hall and the main event was held at The Merchant Taylors' Hall, in Aldwark, York, raising the £1,250 for the cancer charity.
It was Settlement's eighth annual Christmas celebration.
