VOLUNTEERS from Marie Curie Cancer Care thanked visitors to York Racecourse for their generosity following a cycle-themed fund-raising drive this weekend.
More than 40 volunteers were at the Grand Depart to raise money for the organisation, which is the official charity partner of the event, and were giving out commemorative Le Tour wristbands at the weekend.
A spokeswoman for Marie Curie said: “The atmosphere was brilliant, and the people of York very generous.
“We’re having a count up of how much was raised.
“That money will provide free hands-on nursing care and emotional support for people with all terminal illnesses.”
