A LUCKY York man has won a once-in-a-lifetime trip to watch the spectacular Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in London.

Tony Reeves, of Queenswood Grove, will enjoy the festivities with his family from a special vantage point outside Buckingham Palace.

The York University printer, who entered the prize draw through the Evening Press, is travelling to the capital with his wife Pat, daughter, Julie, and grand-daughter, Violet.

On June 3, they will watch the Queen light the National Beacon in front of the Queen Victoria Memorial, and the spectacular Son et Lumiere firework show.

During the day, they will get exclusive entry to London's heritage sites, and on June 4 they will enjoy the National Festival of Jubilee Parades representing the diverse groups who have served this country during 50 years of the Queen's reign. In a fitting finale, the family will be in a prime position to see the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh make a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.

Tony said: "I was just flicking through the Evening Press when I saw the coupon and decided to enter. I couldn't believe it.

"I was really chuffed and have been ringing everyone up to tell them. There should be a great atmosphere."

The family will be staying at a Thistle Hotel and travelling to London with GNER.
