In York ,a woman cyclist was taken to York Hospital after being knocked off her bike at the junction of Front Street and York Road, in Acomb, at 9.05am with minor injuries A head-on crash between an HGV and a car is believed to have been caused by ice in Newsham Road, Thirsk, at 8.05am yesterday.

The male driver of the lorry was uninjured, but a woman from the car was taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton with a suspected injury to her hip.

A motorist was taken to hospital after his van rolled over on the A59 between Hessay and Moor Monkton. The accident happened yesterday, at 4.45am, as the Mercedes Sprinter van headed towards Harrogate.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to York Hospital with suspected back injuries. The road was closed until 6.15am.
