It's good to hear that the council is keeping on top in the war with the graffiti vandals (Writing is on the wall for graffiti, The Press, January 20).
Unfortunately, I must be living in a different location to the council-controlled graffiti-free zone.
Perhaps it would consider extending its zone of influence to include footpaths by the hospital, alongside Rowntrees and across to Foss Islands Road, which are used by many local residents, and have been in need of cleaning up for some considerable time.
Coun Waller can see no point in having a sacrificial wall for our street artists.
But it seems to me that we already have many such walls around the city, as indicated in the accompanying photos, above, taken while walking one of the many scenic pedestrian routes into the city centre from Burton Stone Lane.

A City of York Council spokesperson said: "We are always grateful to people for bringing problem areas to our attention, and will take action to remove the graffiti as soon as possible.
"We would urge anyone else who knows of sites where graffiti, littering or fly-tipping are a problem to let the council know by phoning the York Pride Action line on 01904 551551.
"Information that we receive from members of the public is always invaluable in tackling such problems."
