A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after suffering head injuries in a crash at an accident blackspot on the A64.
Police were called to the two-car smash on the westbound A64 at Whitwell-on-the-Hill, near Malton, at 5.45pm last night.
North Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service attended the scene to free the woman, who was trapped in her car.
A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said she was taken to York Hospital. Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
A lane was closed on the westbound carriageway for two hours following the accident.
Earlier this month, a Malton pensioner was killed crossing the dual carriageway at the same spot. Mollie Kennedy, 86, a retired teacher and church stalwart, had been dropped off by a friend on the westbound carriageway of the notorious trunk road.
She was crossing the road to get a bus back to her home in Castle Road, Malton, when she was involved in a collision with a vehicle.
Both carriageways of the A64 were closed for five hours while police investigated the scene. Traffic was diverted through Welburn.
