UPDATE: North Yorkshire Police have just confirmed the road is now fully re-open and the vehicle has been recovered.
A LORRY fire on the A64 near York has caused huge rush-hour disruption this morning.
The HGV was severely damaged in the blaze near Copmanthorpe around 7am and the eastbound carriageway is down to one lane with traffic moving extremely slowly.
North Yorkshire Police tweeted these pictures from the scene:
One motorist told The Press queues were stretching back almost to the A1(M).
One lane of the eastbound carriageway was initially opened, and traffic moved slowly past the scene.
