YORK teenager Zoe Eagles played her part as England retained the Acle Trophy in the Ladies Under-25s British Isles bowls tournament in Arbroath, writes Peter Martini.
England demolished Wales 106-56, Ireland 127-46 and Scotland 101-54 to easily top the group. Wales were second with Scotland third.
The matches comprised four rinks and 15-year-old Eagles (pictured), one of the youngest players on show, led off for her rink in England's games against Ireland and Scotland. Her rink won both times, 26-10 against Ireland and 27-17 against Scotland.
York Indoor Bowls Club player Eagles' appearance for England meant she could not turn out for York Under-18s in the county U18s championship in York - but it didn't stop York stealing the show. A report of this competition will be carried in Park Life' in Saturday's Press.
British Isles Ladies UNDER-25 tournament results: Scotland 106, Ireland 44; England 106, Wales 56; England 127, Ireland 46; Scotland 76, Wales 76; England 101, Scotland 54; Wales 123, Ireland 46.
