SIMON Dyson has shaken off a troublesome neck injury to continue his European Tour charge in the $2 million Qatar Masters, which starts today.

The North Yorkshire golfer has spent the last few days having extensive treatment after trapping a nerve in his neck during the Abu Dhabi Champion-ship in the United Arab Emirates last week.

The 29-year-old was forced to pull out of the tournament just two holes into the second round after feeling a twinge in the practice area beforehand.

Physio treatment had allowed the Malton and Norton GC star to start the round but, when the injury flared up again, he decided to withdraw.

Dyson had carded a disappointing opening round of four over par and will be looking to recapture the form which saw him take two tour titles last year.

He was hitting eight irons on the range on Tuesday before stepping up to his full practice regime yesterday, without experiencing any further neck pain.

The Qatar Masters, which is played at the Doha Club, is one of the most prestigious on the European Tour's "Desert Swing" and Dyson will tee off at 2.40pm British time from the tenth tee alongside Welshman Bradley Dredge and Malaysian Danny Chia.

Dyson is part of a field of major champions taking part in the event including pre-tournament favourite Ernie Els, who returns to action following a five-week winter break, seven of Europe's successful Ryder Cup team and a host of other title winners.

South Africa's Retief Goosen, last week's Abu Dhabi winner Paul Casey, as well as Darren Clarke and Sergio Garcia, are among those who will compete.
