STILL in their infancy last August, Dundonians The View received a rapturous welcome at a sold-out Fibbers in York.
Now they are being referred to as 2007's next big thing in some quarters.
Is the hype justified? Well, these likely lads churn out some cracking indie rock melodies.
First single Wasted Little DJs is a case in point.
Hear it once and you will be stuck with it for days. Elsewhere, current single Same Jeans treads a fine line, borrowing melodically from Cornershop's Brimful Of Asha and vocally from The Proclaimers.
All in all, this is tasty guitar-driven post-punkery, but perhaps The View are a little late to get on board The Libertines bandwagon.
Next week sees the release of the Klaxons' debut - and the official birth of the NME's next fad, New Rave.

Question: The View hail from which Scottish city?
Answers to Charles Hutchinson on a postcard marked The View Competition. See The Good Competition for entry details.
