WATCH out on television next spring for a piece of snooker wizardry from the young pro' who has been running the show at the Barbican CueZone during the UK Championship.

Del Smith will be appearing in the next series of BBC television drama Murphy's Law, which stars James Nesbitt, of Cold Feet fame, and Holby City actor Jonjo O'Neill.

Del was filmed recently at Three Mills studios, Bromley-by-Bow, making a remarkable snooker clearance for one of the episodes.

"The story is about a kidnapping which takes place during the world championship," explained Del, who is ranked joint 64 on snooker's Challenge Tour circuit and plays at the Dagenham club run by the brother of six-times world champ Steve Davis.

"I was at the studio all day waiting to be filmed then suddenly they called me on and the producer told me 'Right. Just pot that red and clear up the colours'! Just like that, as if you can do it to order! But the amazing thing is that I did."

Dennis Taylor does the television commentary in the episode, which is due to be screened in the spring.

Watch out...2

KEEP an eye out in York for Ronnie O'Sullivan away from the snooker scene.

Ronnie, who lost the UK title when knocked out in the third round this week by Drew Henry, was so impressed by York on his walk through the city on the way to switch on the Christmas lights that he said he might return for a romantic weekend with his girlfriend Jo.
