YOUNG athletes at a North Yorkshire school have been hitting the heights.
These children from Tockwith C of E School were victorious in both the Tadcaster Cluster and Selby Area Indoor Athletics Championships.
The teams consisted of 20 children from years three to six and the school was presented with two shields to recognise their track and field triumphs.
Four of the youngsters, Ellie Sweet, Ellie Corbett, James Smith and Henry Swires, went on to represent the school at the Gifted and Talented competition in Sheffield.
"It was fantastic," said Julie George, the school's PE co-ordinator. "We are area champions and must have competed against 30 other schools.
"The children took part in the javelin, agility tests, sprinting both relay and individual and other events.
"The girls team won everything and it's probably our most successful sports event ever."
