LIKE Anne Chelton (Museum has a hidden display, January 24), we also visited York's Castle Museum recently and if we had not known that there was more to see could have easily missed the rest of the exhibits.
When the visit to the first half is completed it finishes next to the exit turnstile and appears to be the end of the tour.
On the day we visited, we were commenting on the fact of this when two foreign visitors started to complain what a short tour they had had and did not realise, until it was pointed out to them, that there was more to be seen.
I wonder how many more visitors make this mistake?
Also, we were not informed by front of house staff, neither were the visitors in front of us, that there were two halves to the exhibits. We did, as always, enjoy our visit, including the new layout of the street and the street newspaper.
