ACOMB Ladies first team thumped Leeds Adel Carnegie 4-0 in their Yorkshire Hockey League division two encounter.

After a disallowed penalty corner, Kerry Rafton's fine run found Annie Pye, who slotted home from close range.

Rachel Holmes increased the lead, and a Kerry Woods penalty corner strike and Pye's second goal secured a comprehensive win.

Acomb Ladies II fell 3-0 behind to Bradford University at half-time and, although they rallied well after the break with two goals from youngsters Rachel and Andrea Williams, they lost 5-2 in division six.

Acomb men's first team gave Driffield a fright before conceding six goals without reply in the second half.

Visitors Acomb took the lead when Craig Brown slotted home midway through the first half.

The Yorkshire League division two high-flyers equalised and then grabbed the lead after a smart, fast-passing attack, but Brown netted his second to level the scores.

Driffield led at half-time when Steve Church in the Acomb goal had a penalty stroke awarded against him.

And the weakened visitors found the going hard in the second period.

Acomb Marcia Gray defeated a spirited Trinity All Saints mixed team 6-1. The hosts won easily thanks to an Andy Church hat-trick and strikes from Sally Harrison, Matt Dickenson and John Armitage.
