CITY of York I took another tenative step towards Northern Hockey League division one safety by drawing 2-2 with Doncaster II.
When the teams met earlier in the season Doncaster won 2-0, but this time relegation-threatened York showed their battling qualities as they fought back from a couple of goals down to earn a point.
The visitors took the lead through a controversial penalty and extended their lead in the second half, deflecting the ball home at the far post following a defensive error.

City of York V entertained Ben Rhydding IV in division four and continued their run of success with a thumping 7-1 win.
City of York VI narrowly went down 2-1 at Grimsby I - Keith Wilson's goal not enough to secure a draw.
Five goals from Neil Reader and a hat-trick from Nick Kay helped City of York VII to an astonishing 9-0 win at home to Leeds VI in division eight.
City of York VIII put up a sterling fight but were still conquered 4-0 at Acomb II in division nine, while division ten leaders Driffield II ran out 6-1 winners at City of York IX, Andy Dent getting a consolation strike after Clive Marshall's shot had been blocked.
City of York were knocked out of the English Hockey Association National Super-Veterans Cup at the third round stage when they lost 3-0 at Eastcote despite a tremendous display by Richard Skippings in goal.
Bridge too far
A PLAYER short and with an outfield player, Sarah Kocinski, in goal, Stamford Bridge were beaten 8-0 at Whitby in the Costcutter York and District Ladies Hockey League.
