IF Paul Hepworth wishes to bequeath a cleaner and healthier city to our descendants (Stand up to the motoring lobby, Letters, January 27), he should be in favour of keeping as much traffic as possible away from Clarence Street, Gillygate and the town centre, and support the sensible view of using the proposed link road through the Nestle site for all traffic.
Traffic would use this route to get from one side of the city to the other, along Crichton Avenue, Kingsway, Water Lane, and vice versa.
Could he also tell me which bus service would benefit from this exclusive link road, as I am not aware of any service that comes down Wigginton Road and turns left at Clarence Gardens to get to Haxby? Or does he already know this, and is trying to get another cycle route by default?
Cyclists and pedestrians already have two exclusive link roads from Wigginton Road to Haxby Road. They are called Vyner Street and Fountayne Street. So what more does he want?
