I FIND very interesting the party-political rubbish ahead of the May elections coming from the Labour Party in York.
They are opposed to a PFI agreement designed to improve York roads. This is the type of agreement that has had so much hype from the Labour Party at national level to fund hospitals and schools, so they cannot be all that bad, can they?
While the Lib Dems have had some notable foot-shooting headlines over the past four years, wedding traffic lights, etc, they have made some great improvements to the city, despite poor Government grants compared with other areas. The roads are far better than the Third World, pothole-riddled ones left them by the previous Labour group.
Rather than wasting valuable council time on the welfare of French ducks, the Labour group may wish to spend time lobbying for a quality health service in the York and Selby area, rather than the Third World postcode fiasco that we have - or would that upset the national party?
Please do not think I am being party political, as I believe that all groups should have their heads banged together, and unite in the fight for a fair and decent health service, which is being deprived to the many thousands of people who pay National Insurance in York.
